A Key Sign of Poor Circulation ❄️ in Seniors

As a caregiver, one of the earliest and easiest signs to notice is when your senior’s hands or feet feel unusually cold even when the room is warm and the rest of their body feels comfortable.

This happens because blood isn’t circulating properly to the extremities. What might seem like a small thing can be an important warning sign of poor circulation (peripheral artery disease or other vascular issues).

What caregivers should do:

  • Check their hands and feet regularly by touch
  • Note if it happens often or gets worse over time
  • Keep their feet warm with socks and comfortable shoes avoid tight ones.
  • Report it to the doctor or healthcare social worker especially if you notice other symptoms like numbness, swelling, or slow-healing wounds

Don’t ignore cold extremities in seniors. Catching it early can help prevent more serious problems down the road.

You’re doing important work caring for them. Stay observant!
