Alzheimer’s

Alzheimer’s is a progressive brain disease that begins with mild memory loss and possibly leads to loss of the ability to carry on conversations and respond to the environment. Alzheimer’s involves parts of the brain that control thought, memory, and language. According to research, the two most common types of Alzheimer’s are;

  • Early-onset Alzheimer’s. This type happens to people who are younger than age 65. Often, they’re in their 40s or 50s when they’re diagnosed with the disease.
  • Late-onset Alzheimer’s. This is the most common form of the disease, which happens to people ages 65 and older.

Known facts

unfortunately, Scientists do not fully understand what causes Alzheimer’s disease. There likely is not a single cause but rather several factors that can affect each person differently. some treatments can slow the progression of the disease but no cure has been established yet.

Signs and symptoms 

A person with Alzheimer’s disease may experience one or more of the following signs and symptoms. However, having several or even most of these signs doesn’t mean it’s Alzheimer’s disease:

  •  Memory loss that disrupts daily life.
  • Trouble handling money and paying bills.
  • Difficulty completing familiar tasks at home, at work, or leisure.
  • Poor judgment.
  • Misplacing things and being unable to retrace steps to find them.
  • Changes in mood, personality, or behavior.
  • Difficulty with communication.

  • Keep a healthy diet. mostly vegetables, and whole grains.
  • Brain exercises for example puzzles, a learning new language.
  • Keeping a healthy body through exercising keeps your brain nourished with oxygen.
  • Managing behavioral symptoms.
  • Slowing or delaying symptoms of the disease.
